Incident Dispatch Team

What We Do

The Incident Dispatch Team brings skilled dispatchers directly to major incidents, ensuring seamless communication and coordination at the heart of Incident Command. The Incident Dispatch Team responds to both planned and unplanned incidents and events including natural disasters, SWAT operations, wildland fires, and more. Once established, the Incident Dispatch Team transfers responsibility for radio and phone communication from Jeffcom headquarters to Incident Dispatch Team members on scene. In 2023, the Incident Dispatch Team deployed to more than 30 incidents.

Our Team

The Incident Dispatch Team consists of highly skilled and elite dispatchers who are carefully chosen through a competitive selection process for these coveted positions. Once selected, team members undergo rigorous training, including advanced driving tests, extensive on-the-job training, and proficiency signoffs to ensure they are fully prepared to deploy and operate the Incident Dispatch Vehicle. Their expertise and dedication are critical to the success of every deployment, as they provide exceptional communication and coordination at the heart of incident command. This team’s commitment and specialized skills make them indispensable in managing complex and high-stakes incidents.

The Vehicle

The All-Wheel Drive Ford Transit Incident Dispatch Vehicle is a cutting-edge mobile command unit designed for seamless operations in challenging environments. Equipped with Computer-Aided Dispatch and 4 all-band mobile radios, it ensures reliable communication across diverse frequencies, supported by mobile connectivity via FirstNet, Verizon, satellite connectivity and a built-in hotspot. Advanced GIS mapping and printing capabilities aid in situational awareness, while the Universal Radio Gateway bridges 800 MHz and VHF systems. Two unmanned aerial systems (UAS) with infrared cameras can provide aerial support, complemented by a boom mast with an overhead camera and a weather station for real-time data. A briefing TV and a 3000W generator enhance on-site functionality, and direct access to the Carbyne phone system ensure continuous operations, even in remote locations.
